The machine is designed without feed-on and take-up elevators. Film to be processed is spliced to a leader of sufficient length to thread the machine on a cassette reel and loaded into a cassette. The cassette is mounted on the machine and the head of the film spliced to the tail of the leader already in situ. On starting the machine this leader draws the film and pre-wound leader through the process stages. The machine stops automatically when the cassette is empty, the processed film by this time being on the take-up reel.
