Cleaning System...
...standard of the motion picture industry for professional quality, safety and cost-effective operation. This new technology is now available to the electronics industry. |
Lipsner-Smith Company designed and manufactured the first ultrasonic continuous web-cleaning machine for metal magnetic recording tape in 1958. Since that time, Lipsner-Smith has been the world-leading manufacturer of motion picture film cleaning systems, having been recognized with both Academy and Emmy awards for engineering advancements.
Lipsner-Smith, which also designs cleaning systems for other critical applications, is part of the RTI Group, the leading manufacturer of videotape and optical disc cleaning and inspection products. Now this technology is available for applications ranging from continuous web flexible circuit product to tape & reel parts cleaning.
Now available from Lipsner-Smith are customized continuous web cleaning machines. Applications include high-efficiency cleaning of web materials including flexible circuits, tape & reel components, film substrates and other uses where non-aqueous fluids produce desired results.
Series CW cleaning systems are designed for use with 3M NovecTM Engineered Fluid HFE8200, a highly desirable alternative to chlorinated solvents such as perchloroethylene.
Series CW continuous web cleaning systems use Lipsner-Smith's proven ultrasonics to cavitate a deep bath of filtered cleaning fluid to safely remove foreign particulate matter from web surfaces containing components such as flexible circuits. As web is transported from the fluid, it is dried with heated, filtered air and spooled onto a take-up reel.
Typical Specifications:
Cleaning: Ultrasonic cavitation followed by high-pressure, low volume air-drying.
Cleaning Agent: 3M NovecTM Engineered Fluid HFE-8200. Contact Lipsner-Smith for alternative options.
Ultrasonics: Standard configuration for web material up to three inches in width: eight 31 kHz transducers driven by 600 watt generator.
Turbulation: Unidirectional submerged fluid flow from orifice at base of ultrasonic cleaning tank. Fluid re-circulation through 5-micron cartridge style filters.
Drying: Air knives deliver low volume (adjustable from approximately 2-3 cubic feet per minute), high-pressure filtered air (at approximately 10 psi) heated in a range of 100-140 F. Optional impingement dry boxes also available.
Vapor Recovery: HFE-8200 vapors produced during cleaning recovered by a refrigerated freeboard with a temperature blanket controlled within a range of 28-40 degrees F. Additional vapors are recovered by drawing air for the drying air-knives from above the refrigerated coils, and passing them through vapor condensers, from which the resulting condensate is directed to the fluid recovery process. Condensers and cold components insulated where required.
Liquid Collection Sensor: Container positioned to trap liquid overflow from water separator. Sensor provided to alert to overflow condition in collection container.
Distillation: Unit provides additional fluid recovery through enclosed automatic distillation system.
Reel Capacity and Weight: Standard configuration up to 19" reels. Weight capacity 50 lbs, supported by (approximate) 12mm reel shafts.
Web Width: Standard configuration to 3 inches. Rollers made of Delrin and/or stainless steel. Systems available for wider web by custom order.
Transport: Microprocessor controlled transport.
Transport Speed: 5-100 feet per minute. Standard capstan drive of full surface molded polyurethane. Transport roller support does not contact inner web surface that may contain flexible circuits or other components.
Tension control: By servo-controlled pots.
Display: 2-line X 20-character vacuum fluorescent user interface display. Digital footage counter, pressure, temperature gauges, diagnostics.
Controls: On/off; run; stop; elevator up; menu; display; directional modes; clear.
Operation: System is designed to function with one operator. Threading diagram located on front panel for easy reference.
Power: 208V, 60 Hz single phase, 35 amps. Power cable feed to guarded electrical cabinet. Duplex 115V single-phase 15-amp outlet provided in electrical cabinet. Components shielded and clearly marked Danger---High Voltage. 50 Hz available.
Emergency Stop: Clearly labeled palm-styled hand button located near control panel to cut machine power supply. Control is hard wired to safety interlock circuit.
Cabinet Construction: All metal cabinet. Baked on paint. Back plate of .25 inch aluminum, stainless steel front plate. All wiring color coded and harnessed with ID labels
Cabinet Cooling: Internal components positioned to allow airflow to backside of machine cabinet. Compressor to allow direct exhaust through cabinet rear door. Adjustable louver in front to allow airflow for cabinet cooling.
Safety Interlocks: All access doors and panels hard wired to interlock switches to disconnect machine power supply when opened.
Net Weight and Size: Standard configuration Model CW8000 approximately 1300 lbs. Operating weight approximately 1650 lbs. Approximate dimensions 33" wide x 25" deep x 68" high.
Manuals: Manuals provided for operator/maintenance procedures and guidelines; documentation for assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts lists; drawings and wiring diagrams.
Warranty: One year parts and labor. Additional renewable 12 month maintenance contract also available.
